There are several anxiety disorders that cause situational Panic symptoms, these include PTSD, agoraphobia and social anxiety. Those with social anxiety have intense fears of being ridiculed and embarrassed during public or social situations such as performing on stage or going to a party. The thought of making a fool of themselves in front of other people creates such fear that they will try and do anything to get out of it.

In some cases this disorder is found to be caused by a genetic factor and might exist in several members in a family. Most doctors now recognize that social phobia is also a learned habit. Bullied or abused children are much more likely to develop this disorder. Adults are still at risk of developing this disorder through learned negative habits.

Agoraphobia like social phobia, affects more women than it does men. Those with this disorder have extreme fears of having a panic attack in public. Busy places and environments where easy escape is not possible are often feared the most. Meetings, standing in a queue or elevator are common situations that spark fear.

This disorder sometime gets mistaken as social anxiety for obvious reasons. It was once considered that panic attacks were only related to panic disorder; another anxiety disorder. This is now not the case since studies have shown that many agoraphobes do not have panic disorder.

There is also a slight difference with panic attacks in those with panic disorder, in that they’re unpredictable. Agoraphobes usually experience Panic symptoms when they are confronted with their fear. At the beginning, symptoms may be slight such as hot flashes, tingling sensations and trembling.

These symptoms might escalate and the sufferer might experience extreme fear, embarrassment and sensations such as derealization. In severe cases some people may become homebound unable to even venture past their doorsteps without experiencing panic symptoms. This makes life very difficult to cope with.

Life can feel extremely lonely and depressing with these disorders. Making a life, pursuing a career or having a relationship can seem like impossible tasks. Studies have shown that depressive disorders develop much more easily in those with agoraphobia. Men who suffer from panic symptoms are much more likely to binge drink than women.

Even though anxiety disorders are highly under recognized there is Anxiety Help and treatment. Medication is available as well as therapies such as CBT and alternative therapies such as hypnosis. Changes to lifestyle to improve overall health can make difference too. Practicing breathing techniques and self help techniques like EFT can accelerate recovery.

Some agoraphobes may avoid going to see a doctor for anxiety help because they simply can’t do it. This dilemma means that potentially thousands or millions are not treated. However, it’s important to seek professional anxiety help for proper diagnosis and effective treatment. If you find it difficult to seek help alone, go with someone you know.

Behavioral therapy might include techniques to help you adjust to your fears over time. Old behaviors can be replaced by new positive ones this way. In addition, there are support groups available for people with various anxiety disorders. Getting support and supporting other sufferers can make one feel less alone. If that seems daunting, anxiety forums on the internet also exist.
