Touch works wonders when it comes to relaxing. Just imagine how many times you have felt down, or you have had a bad day. Well, holding the hand of a child, or holding an infant in your arms can dispose of any stress that you may be feeling and bring you back to a state of psychological and physical wellbeing.
A simple touch can re-awaken the feeling of happiness and a sense of belonging, especially for particular individuals such as senior citizens who live alone, or those who are confined to nursing homes.
The sense of touch not only relaxes, but it can also heal.
When a person whose job entails a lot of work at a computer is rubbed gently on the back or neck, it is instantly soothing. Stress eases away at once at that massaging touch.
Suppose you are arguing with someone in the family when your child suddenly gives you a hug or even just touches you lightly. It’s hard to carry on the argument after that because it’s difficult to sustain your annoyance when you have just been lovingly touched.
Many pet owners find the benefits rewarding of stroking, cuddling, and spending time with their pets. You could be in the worst possible mood when you arrive home, but when your pet greets you with excitement as you enter the house, all of your worries seem to fade away, and you can relax.
Let’s be honest, we all need a cuddle now and then. The way you feel is changed completely whether that cuddle comes from a spouse, a child, a sister, or a friend, also changing your attitude. Releasing the inner child in us and cuddling ourselves can not only sometimes make us feel better, but place us in a state of relaxation.
Take your kids to a petting zoo and see how much they love stroking and cuddling the creatures there. As they play with the various animals, they will delight in the feel of their different skins and pelts, full of interesting textures and appearances.
The art of touching can certainly relax, soothe, heal, and comfort a human being. It can either be sexual, sensual, or even allowing an individual who has low self-esteem to open up to you and discuss their feelings.
A grumpy old man can all of a sudden smile from the touch of a child. The touch of a friend can immediately create a comfort zone, whereby one becomes relaxed enough to share their feelings. A mother’s touch can relax a crying child into a peaceful state of slumber.
